Hello everybody!
You all know me as a beauty blogger, but deep down I am a foodie and it is always so nice to try new delicious dishes. Mexican food lovers MUST read this post, because I am bringing wonderful news.
Last week you've seen on my Instagram account - follow me - a series of pictures with delicous Mexican food and that was all possible because I was invited to an exclusive blogger event at Tijuana Flats, at their newest location in the beautiful Coconut Creek, Florida. I must thank Heather from Bloggin' Mamas for letting me know of this event and Sunshine for being such a great host. I was surprised to find out that this restaurant chain has had a rapid growth in their almost 20 years of activity (since 1995) and how they now have 100 restaurants in six different states.
I sure hope you ate already, because you'll be craving just by looking at the pictures down below.
The dinner started with the Atom Bombs - lightly fried tortillas, cream cheese, fresh jalapenos, ”Smack My Sweet Ass” and ”Call Me Sally” sauces. These tortillas were served with sweet chili sauce and sour cream, a great start for the next courses.
Then we had the delicous task to try the three new burritos, on the menu starting from tomorrow, 9th of July, burritos made with hemp seed tortillas, high in protein and Omega-3.
The first one was the Pie Roller - a pizza burrito with pepperoni, red sauce, mozzarella cheese (they call it power-light cheese),
fajita peppers, onions and mushrooms. Everything toasted with red sauce, pepperoni and
cheese. I liked the Pie Roller and how well all the ingredients worked together.
The second one was the Tree Hugger - a vegetarian hemp burrito with roasted poblanos, mushrooms, onions,
cilantro, scallions, cream cheese, tortilla chips, cheese and queso. This one was my absolute favorite. Even though I am a meat lover, this vegetarian burrito exceeded all my expectations and that touch of cilantro made it ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. What can I say more? Yummy!
The third one was the Sweet Hemptation - Hemp tortilla filled with crispy chicken and churros, cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, queso, cheese, bacon and onions. This new burrito was my second favorite, and also Marian's favorite of them all. It was sure an interesting combination for me to feel all that sweetness and cinnamon in a main dish, but for real it was delicious.
The evening couldn't end up without something sweet and the Banana empanadas - two empanadas stuffed with bananas, cinnamon sugar, and topped with powdered sugar, served with a side of caramel sauce - certainly it was the desert I was expecting for to close this culinary feast.
Not only me and Marian enjoyed fresh and savoring new on the menu burritos, but we also met other bloggers and we had a wonderful time. Good food and nice people - that's my kind of event.
I have discovered a Tijuana Flats location on Biscayne Boulevard, closer to my home, which I plan to go there very soon. That vegetarian burrito calls my name.
Do you love Mexican food? Do you know Tijuana Flats?
Yours,
Rally
